Throughout Victoria there are dogs and cats that need new homes. Perhaps you aren't in a position to take a dog or cat into your home but want to help.

Sponsors can nominate which dog or cat they would like to sponsor by looking at the dogs and cats needing homes on the website. If the preview says that the pet is trialling their new home, they do not need sponsorship. The dogs on the first page have been looking for a home longer than those on the subsequent pages, but you should choose the dog you most want to help. More than one person can sponsor each dog.

You can choose to be one of several sponsors for a dog, or if you are donating to a specific surgery bill for a dog we can arrange for you to donate directly to the vet. We rely on the generosity of our supporters as our vet and kennel costs run at more than $100 000 a year.

We have not provided specific costs as our operation involves using many rural vets, each of whom has different charges, usually much higher than we can negotiate in the city. But it is our policy to only give a dog to a foster carer that is chipped and vaccinated so we do this in the country, albeit at a higher cost, before we move them to the city.

Your name will be added to our sponsorship page with a photo of the dog or cat with a minimum sponsorship of $10. When you sponsor a dog or cat for more than $100 you will receive a certificate acknowledging your generous donation. We will also endeavour to update you on your sponsored dog or cat, although sometimes you may have to prompt us if we are running more than usually behind.

At Victorian Dog Rescue we honour our promise to every dog or cat we rescue. This promise is that each one will have as much vetwork, training and assistance as they require. No dog or cat is ever returned to the pound or killed because of any  health or behavioural problems. Please help us care for these dogs and cats who have already been discarded once. We will never do that to them.
